Taurine, or 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid, is a large component of bile and represent nearly 0.1% of total human body weight. Taurine is conjugated to chenodeoxycholic acid and cholic acid forming bile salts.Taurine has been associated with many physiological phenomena, and its low pKa improves the detergent properties of the bile conjugate.
Our Taurine Assay Kit is designed for detection and quantitation of free taurine in plasma, serum, urine, or lysates. Taurine found in conjugated molecules is not detected with this assay.
